4. Most species of cockroaches (and there are about 4,000) are not considered pests. Only about 30 species are considered pests and in Kansas it is mainly the German cockroach and American cockroach found infesting homes and businesses.

5. Cockroaches eat pretty much anything. While they prefer the food in your kitchen they will also eat things like leather and even bar soap. Maybe it has contributed to their long survival as a species?
